abstract = "This study aimed to verify the correlations between the variations
of rainfall, minimum and maximum temperature for November in Rio
Grande do Sul (RS) with the main scores generated by the anomalies
of SST (sea surface temperature) of the combined South Atlantic
and South Pacific oceans. It was applied the technique of
Principal Components (PC) in S mode, generating the Principal
Oscillation Patterns (POPs) of the oceans. The main results show
significant correlations between the major ocean and precipitation
patterns, minimum and maximum temperature of 32 meteorological
stations in the RS. Rainfall showed more significant correlations
in the northwest of the RS with the scores of the first component,
which describes the variations of the Equatorial Pacific SST. The
minimum temperature was significantly correlated, especially in
the southeast of the RS with the scores of the second component.
The second component is associated with SST anomalies especially
in the coastal region of Argentina, a region of the enhancement of
cold fronts. The maximum temperature was significantly correlated
with the scores of the third component, especially in central-east
of RS. The third component describes the oceanic areas associated
with the formation of the Convergence Zone of the South Atlantic.
The correlations between Major Scores SST and meteorological
variables showed spatial variations in the magnitude and sign of
RS, possibly indicating that the adjustments will increase when
                         using multiple standards ocean combined.",
